Laundry Day at Kensington at Chelmsford

Laundry day at Kensington at Chelmsford may not be your favorite thing, but having a full-size washer and dryer setup in your apartment is certainly a plus! It beats driving all over Chelmsford late Sunday night trying to find a clean, affordable laundry! Today we have some tips to help you conquer your personal Mount Washmore successfully.
Before You Wash
To keep your hampers from getting smelly, keep a box of baking soda nearby. Sprinkle some on anything that is especially smelly to absorb the odor, or create an odor absorber by filling a nylon knee-high sock with baking soda (knot the open end) and hang it in your hamper to soak up the smells.
Use a three-compartment laundry sorter to save time on laundry day — your clothes will already be separated into whites, darks, and colors.
Turn your darks inside out when you toss them into the hamper. Washing them inside out will help prevent the dark color from fading.
Stain Removal
An effective homemade stain remover you may want to try is easy to make with just two ingredients. Mix one part dish soap with two parts hydrogen peroxide. Apply to the stain, let sit for 10 minutes or longer, and rinse. (Always perform a spot check first on a discreet area of fabric.)
Print out a basic stain removal guide and hang it by your washer; that way you will have the solution you need for stains where you need it and when you need it.
Keep a piece of chalk near your hamper and run it over grease stains to help lift them out of the fabric.
Getting it All Dry
Dry a pair of shoes in your dryer without all of the bumping and thumping by loosely knotting the laces together and hanging the shoes just inside the dryer door from the laces.
Throw a dry towel in with your wet laundry in the dryer. The towel will absorb moisture, enabling the load of laundry to dry faster.
